ANNOUNCEMENT

1.       Organization:

A.O. Agria ATHLOS, in collaboration with the Chess Club "SACH" Thessaloniki and

with the support of the Region of Thessaly, organizes the "AGRIA OPEN 2025", with national and international rating.

2.       Playing Venue:

5* Hotel Valis Resort (https://valishotel.gr/) in Agria, Magnesia.

3.       Mode - Groups:

Swiss Tournament of 7 rounds in 2 GROUPS

OPEN A: Chess players with Fide Int. Rating more than or equal to 1800

OPEN B: Chess players with Fide Int. Rating up to 1799.

Ninety (90) minutes for the whole game, plus thirty (30'') seconds per move (from 1st move).

Players arriving thirty (30’) minutes and more, after the scheduled start of a round, shall be forfeited.

 6.       Entry Fees:

A Group

                     GM, IM, WGM, WIM:                            Free on entry fee

                    Players with ELO 2300+:                         Free on entry fee

                    Female players with ELO 2100+:          Free on entry fee

                    Players with ELO 1800-2299:                 €50

B Group        All Participants €40

Players with ELO 1600-1799 who wish to compete in Group A can do so, by paying the entry fees for both groups (€50 + €40 = 90€).

Discounts

For participation of 2 members of the same family a total discount of 10%

          For participation of 3+ members of the same family total discount 20%

Maximum number: 140 participants.

          The entry fee must be paid by Friday, 22.08.2025.

          Registration does not guarantee participation.

The only confirmation of participation is the payment of the entry fee.

 The proof of entry fee payment must be sent to topionaki@gmail.com, with e-mail subject “Agria-Open”

The pairings of the 1st round will be done on Tuesday, August 26, at 21:30, and will be announced at chess-results.com.

8.       Tie-break Criteria:

            a. Sum of opponents’ points (Buchholz)

          b. Sum of opponents’ points according to the results (Sonneborn-Berger)

          c. Sum of opponents’ Buchholz scores

9.       Tournament Director:

The Board of A.O. AGRIA ATHLOS.

10.     Chief Arbiter:

Mrs. Zoe Anagnostou (IA).

11.     Appeals - Appeals Committee:

Appeals shall be submitted, in written form to the Appeals Committee, no later than 10 minutes from the end of the playing session of each round. This Committee will be consisted of 3 members and 2 substitute ones, chosen among the participants or not. The Committee’s members related to the players involved in the complaint will be excluded from the Committee and will be replaced by substitutes. The cost of the appeal is 50€ for A Group and 40€ for B Group and can be submitted to the tournament director or the chief arbiter.

The fee is totally refunded if the appeal becomes accepted. If not, the fee goes in favor of the organization.

The Appeals Committee will be announced before the start of the 1st Round.

12.     Prizes: Total Prize Fund €2200

The prizes cannot be shared and are attributed to the winners according to the final ranking.

In case, one player deserves more than one prize, he/she will only be rewarded with the higher valued one.

In the special categories, there must be at least 3 chess players.

13.     Exceptions - Byes:

Players can request an exception from pairings up to ten (10) minutes after the end of the last game.

Exceptions with half a point are available until the 3rd round and without a point for the rest of the tournament. The exception should be asked no later than ten (10) minutes after the end of his/her last game.

Exception at 1st round can get anyone who has prepaid the entry fee.

Unjustified absence from any round will result in expulsion from the tournament.

Any player unable to play a round shall notify the arbiters within ten (10) minutes after the end of the last game of the Group.

The time schedule cannot be changed for any reason.

Players missing a round without notifying the organizers will be disqualified from the next “AGRIA OPEN”.

14.     Anti-cheating:

The organization reserves the right to check the players for the prevention and confrontation of electronic assistance (Anti cheating protection measures) in accordance with the current regulations of F.I.D.E.: https://handbook.fide.com/chapter/AntiCheatingRegulations

15.     Side Events:

A BLITZ tournament will be held on Friday, 29.08.2025 at 18:00 (announcement to follow).

17.     Accommodation – Special Offer Package

Accommodation for athletes and companions is at their own choice.

For those interested, the organizers have secured exclusive accommodation packages for the four days of the tournament (from August 27 to August 31, 2025) for participants, as follows:

 ○        Triple room (2 adults and 1 child up to 12 years old) with breakfast: €155/night
